The Decemberists' New EP

On hiatus for the time being, the Decemberists have announced a forthcoming EP—a parting gift of sorts—of acoustic songs that come from the same Pendarvis Farm sessions as this year's The King Is Dead. It only stands to reason that the six-song release is called Long Live the King, and it's out November 1. Pitchfork has posted the track list, which includes the Prince-sounding "I 4 U & U 4 Me," and a cover of the Grateful Dead's "Row Jimmy." Meanwhile, members of the band are either gassing up the Black Prairie machine or writing books, and for Decemberists fans, the EP something to tide them over during the coming hiatus following a period of activity that was a decided high note of their career. For Decemberists non-fans, it's something they can ignore.

End Hits: 2 Kool 2 B Forgotten.
