Alela Diane on Rough Trade's Basement Tapes

Posted by Ned Lannamann on Mon, Nov 14, 2011 at 12:28 PM

When they stopped by Rough Trade's office in London recently, Alela Diane and husband/guitarist Tom Bevitori found themselves in the basement performing an impromptu version of the appropriately titled "Long Way Down." (You see, basement? Long way down?... Oh, forget it.) The song is a highlight of their recent album Alela Diane & Wild Divine, with Bevitori singing co-lead through the entire thing. This fine stripped-down version is the second installment of Rough Trade's Basement Tapes series. Diane, Bevitori and the Wild Divine band are currently wrapping up a European tour opening for Fleet Foxes.

End Hits: In England, the first floor is called the ground floor! And the second floor is the first floor! The basement is still just the basement, though.
