New Trailer for The Mushle Fuffle Waffle House Rishes

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Hufflepuff shmentor!
  • THE DARK KNIGHT RISES "Hufflepuff shmentor!"

Over at Apple there's a new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises, AKA That Movie Where No One Can Understand a Goddamn Thing One of the Major Characters Says. In the trailer Bane blows up a football field (TAKE THAT FOOTBALL ENTHUSIASTS!) and Catwoman gets all up in Batman's face and is all, "SOCIAL COMMENTARY!"

I generally really enjoy Christoper Nolan's films—especially The Dark Knight—but I'm usually more impressed with his ability to dream up massive, surreal imagery and then score it with gut-rattling percussion than anything else; narratively, I almost always find things to be pretty lacking. I have no doubt The Dark Knight Rises will deliver plenty of badass, percussion-pounding moments, but seeing how muddy the narratives for Nolan's movies usually are, I'm also getting a Spider-Man 3 vibe from the 4,000 characters he's decided to cram into his final Bat-movie.

Not to mention the unarguable fact that Bane is the single worst Batman villain ever conceived. Seriously, he’s a steroid addicted luchador. I'll see the movie, but it's looking very unlikely that I'll enjoy it.

We saw the trailer in front of the new Sherlock Holmes this weekend (very enjoyable, incidentally). It was a little confusing and not terribly exciting, Bane's character design is pretty dull. Hard to top Joker, really.

Um, Fruit Cup... You're great and stuff. You're one of the more intelligent people who hangs around this here net-hole, but right now you're utterly and completely wrong-pants about this.

In a world that includes Crazy Quilt, Ten Eyed Man, Kite Man, and the Mad Hatter, Ban is far, far from being the single worst Batman villain. Despite his 90s-tastic character design, I've always found him pretty interesting. He's musclebound, but he's also as intelligent and conniving as Batman. He's basically the anti-Bat, and a fitting villain for Nolan's aesthetic.

Also, I'm firmly in the "I hope Nolan kills Bruce Wayne" camp.

@R3, I know my opinion isn't widely shared, but I can't help it. I followed Bane from his first appearance (actually had the real thing before all my comics were stolen) all the way through Knightfall. I just. I don't know. I can't get away from how he's a steroid addled luchador. I hate him. He's just the worst (for me).

The Mad Hatter is awesomesauce.

Eh, it was the 90s. As someone who grew up actually reading Spawn (I know- I'm sorry) I can forgive Bane's look as being a product of its time.

Sucks about your comics being stolen. That's pretty damn terrible.

Yes. Spawn. I think 1 - 40 all stolen along with the rest of my comics. Also most of the early 90s catalog as well as a crap ton of X-men and Avengers. Sob.

Oddly enough my HS yearbooks as well. But those I don't really miss.
