Who Stole Roger Rabbit?

Posted by Alex Zielinski on Tue, Jan 17, 2012 at 10:59 AM

So what ever happened to those 23 rabbits stolen from the Portland Meat Collective last week? I know, I know, I've kept you waiting.

Turns out there were only 18 — which doesn't make it any less important and insulting — lifted from Levi Cole's property Saturday evening. Of the 18, the Portland Police recovered 17 on Friday, after the long-eared posse was dropped off at a rabbit rescue shelter early in the week. However, one rabbit in particular, dubbed "Roger", remains in hostage by the unknown perpetrator.

However, the thief's attorney has made it clear that her client intends on buying Roger from the Portland Meat Collective. A pretty ridiculous request in my opinion. "Hi I'm going to steal your property and then request to buy it from you." Backwards? Yes.

According the PPB, no aressts have been made — yet.

Stay tuned for the impending fate of Roger Rabbit.

I notice that Roger is small, gray and "fury."

Dumb fucking cops.

@1..maybe he's cross? Anyway, my friend had her two pet rabbits stolen last year, what the hell is up with these idiots? First off, it is theft, secondly I realize some people don't have real world problems but this is beyond stupid.

RTFA. The person with the rabbit is not the thief. The rabbits were left at a shelter, and one of them was adopted out to a family who had no idea they were stolen property.

If someone came to you and said they wanted to turn your newly-adopted family pet into an appetizer dish, how would you feel about it? So good on them for lawyering up. If anything, the lawyer and rabbit bills will probably be cheaper than the inevitable therapy bills after the parents have to explain to their kids why Thumper had to end up as yuppie chow.

Rabbit meat is very tasty. We raised rabbits to butcher when I was a young lad. Domestic rabbits, of course. We didn't think of them as pets.

Rabbits are no ones "property"! They are living, breathing, thinking animals that deserve to live their own lives, not be forcibly impregnated and then murdered by people who don't even know what they're doing. These rabbits were liberated and then forcibly brought back to the knife's edge. Portland Meat Collective is evil. Animal Liberation!

I wasn't aware one could 'murder" a rabbit. Mind you I am not in favor of Portland Meat Collective, but really apparently things must be pretty rough if this is your biggest issue
