With all the attention music and film gets in town, Portland's burlesque scene might seem a little niche-y compared with Seattle or San Francisco, but the small yet fierce community has been working hard to appeal to audiences, especially the ones who think they're too cool. Blame Burning Man for the bad rap. If you think you might be burlesque-curious (totally a thing), you may as well go on a night where they're pulling all the stops. See it at its best, then judge.
Tonight's a good night to take that baby step, and The Rosehip Revue—which claims the highest local attendance among revues of this sort—is celebrating their second anniversary tonight, presenting the opportunity to see some of the best local talent, including Charlotte Treuse, Kit Katastrophic, Madison Moone, and Sophie Maltease. (You can also check out Kit and Sophie at the Naked Girls Reading event tomorrow.) It goes down at the Star Theater with doors at 9, curtain 9:30, $15 at the door.
