The time has come once again to say goodbye to a Mercury intern. But before we allow young Will Elder to go on his way, we must find a replacement. So please, spread the word, so that he can finally get on with his life.
This is an editorial internship, with opportunities to learn about and contribute to our vast array of arts and events coverage. Duties may include some light, easy data entry (like movie times), transcribing interviews with marginally famous people, blogging and writing event listings, and helping us canvas the city for the latest events and developments in local arts and culture.
As far as scheduling, we are pretty flexible, but we keep pretty normal office hours, and you will need to be here for some of them (I recommend no less than two days per week to really get your feet wet). We absolutely need someone who is available on Tuesday afternoons, so you need not apply if you can't be here then. We also have an editorial meeting every Wednesday morning at 10 sharp—you'll want to be there too.
Still interested? Send your resume and writing samples (blogging or unpublished is ok!) to me along with a short note letting me know a bit about you and your interest in the Merc. We're looking to fill the position sooner than later, so don't sit on those hands!
