A Headline I Never Thought I'd Write: "This Channing Tatum Movie Looks Great!"

Posted by Erik Henriksen on Thu, Apr 19, 2012 at 11:29 AM

21 Jump Street suddenly and unexpectedly and somewhat confusingly turned me into a Channing Tatum fan, which is a weird thing to say, but goddamn, he was great in it: See it if you haven't, and tell me the guy doesn't hold the whole thing together. He's charming and funny and goofy and sweet and steals every scene he's in. He also popped up in a pretty alright part in Haywire, so I guess just saying "Channing Tatum" is no longer an easy joke I can make whenever I'm feeling lazy.

Here's the first trailer for Magic Mike, the film Tatum and Steven Soderbergh made based on Tatum's real-life experience as a stripper. Granted, I tend to either like or love more or less everything Soderbergh does, but still, I'm pretty sure Magic Mike looks to be the male stripper drama/romance/comedy saga that we've all spent so long waiting and hoping for.
