Here's one for the weekend calendar: Anthony Doerr is a prize-winning short story writer who made a strong impression at Wordstock two years ago, both by his readings from his then-new collection Memory Wall, and by his participation in a great panel on short story writing that also featured Aimee Bender. Tin House and the PSU Creative Writing Program are hosting a reading and "staged interview" with Doerr this Friday; he'll be interviewed by Charles D'Ambrosio, arguably Portland's finest short-story writer. This should be excellent.
