Yesterday, Portland Button Works launched in a tiny storefront on North Killingsworth. The store specializes in custom-made buttons, magnets, and bottle openers—you can design your own, or choose from any of the designs displayed in picture frames on the store's walls. (Individual and bulk pricing available—details are on the website.) Three button-making machines (button presses?) are on hand, so customers can make their own buttons, or order 'em. The store also sells a decent selection of zines and indie comics.

Portland Button Works, 1332 N Killingsworth, open daily 10 am-8 pm
