I Liked the New Wes Anderson Movie.

I don't mind Wes Anderson's aesthetic tics as much as some people seem to—Fantastic Mr. Fox was great, and I will never stop loving Rushmore (nor will I ever fail to laugh at this joke). You can read why I liked Moonrise Kingdomright over here, but the gist is that I think Anderson really captured how seriously kids take the games they play.

I also, though, liked listening to Stephen Metcalf tear Moonrise Kingdom to pieces on Slate's Culture Gabfest this week. It's a good listen—a joint podcast with Movies on the Radio that uses Moonrise Kingdom as a launching point for a discussion on music in film.

Moonrise Kingdom opens tomorrow at theaters all over the damn place.
