Booker Gabe Lageson Out at East End

Posted by Ned Lannamann on Fri, Jul 13, 2012 at 10:43 AM

East End booker Gabe Lageson, who's been with the venue since it opened back in 2007, has announced he'll no longer be booking shows at the venue. As a part-owner of the space, Lageson continually brought garage, punk, and metal shows to the inner Eastside, and while booking has been occasionally erratic and sometimes difficult to confirm as of late, his efforts and terrific bills will be sorely missed.

This announcement comes the week after East End's annual block party blowout, which was a two-day affair this year and saw a huge amount of punk and metal bands take over the outdoor space adjacent to the bar. That event, too, was marked by some difficulties, including headliners Repulsion and another band, Blood Freak, both cancelling last minute, and a number of people standing outside the cyclone fence and listening to bands for free, not paying the admittance charge.

Lageson posted an explanation of his departure on Facebook last night, the text of which I'll post after the jump. He says he'll continue to book music and events elsewhere. Best of luck to Lageson in all his future endeavors.

Dear East End Kids - Gabe Lageson will no longer be doing booking East End. Mod/Psych Pop legends POWDER w/ CLOROX GIRLS (PDX classic line up), LENZ (member of CUTS!) & more will be his last show @ EE.

We realize this maybe sad to few & a relief to few as well.

East End will be honoring any holds and confirmed shows in the coming days, months etc. Have no fear- for any questions related to your show/event etc please contact bookingeastend@gmail.com or gabrielA.lageson@gmail.com and we will be happy to answer any questions regarding existing shows or future dates. Again for future shows and events please contact bookingeastend@gmail.com.

I (Gabe) asks that you give the East End all the support in the world and encourages any bands/agents to work with them. I couldn't speak any higher about anyone than the guys doing the booking now. Things will be better!!! Change is good. Also I'd like to thank from the bottom of my heart all the bands I've been lucky enough to work with over the past 4 years. Really some of the best times of my life.

You will all know when I'm back here at East End or elsewhere because like it or not, perfect of chaos there is nothing like a show I put on and very few that care enough to bring these events to our town... one thing that will stay the same is the amazing East End staff and how your band will been treated while gracing our little stage. What we've done in the past and what's going to happen in the future means everything to the bookers, sound, bartenders, door & all East End staff who love its customers. East End will aways be a home for underground PUNK, METAL & GARAGE.
