Tomorrow Night: VHS Swap at Floating World

Ah, good old VHS! Like the eight-track, it's a clunky, long-outdated media format that absolutely no one misses in the slightest.

WAIT! Some people apparently miss it! Tomorrow night, Floating World Comics (400 NW Couch) will host the First Annual Great Portland Home Video Entertainment Swapathon and Youth Chili Cook Off*, which could turn out very well for you should you have (or should you want to have) some VHS tapes laying around:

The swap, birthed from the loins of local VHS collector and Spookies lead singer Mayhaw Hoons, will feature a number of exhibitors displaying the absolute finest VHS tapes from around the world for trade or purchase. Refreshments and entertainment will be provided. Guests are welcome to bring their own VHS to swap or sell, but exhibitor tables are already filled.

The last time I moved, I ditched the few remaining VHS tapes I had (which were, in no particular order, Wayne's World, Romeo Must Die**, Black Belt Jones, and that giant two-tape version of Magnolia); otherwise, I'd probably head down to this and check it out. But then I'd need to figure out what to do with any new tapes I picked up. Now that I think of it, this event should probably be paired with a First Annual Great Portland VCR Swapathon.

* Says the press release: "At this time the First Annual Great Portland Home Video Entertainment Swapathon and Youth Chili Cook Off is unable to host the youth chili cook off portion until further notice."
