Three quick pieces of mayoral election news:

1. Charlie Hales is backpedaling on his idea for an awesome bike trail to Astoria. :( On the positive side, in response to the rash of recent shootings in town, he posted an eight point plan for a "safer Portland" that centers on community policing.

2. Metro councilor and long-time Portland politico Bob Stacey is endorsing Jefferson Smith. From his press release: "When he became a State Representative, I saw him champion smart planning, and our environment. I saw him stand up against the CRC - one of the first leaders in the state to do so."

3. Next weekend, according to this event listing, Smith will be participating in assisting a Zumba Dance instructor in a stretch and warm-up in the Rose Quarter! Zumbaaaaa! Fingers crossed that this mayoral election is a dead heat that can only be broken by a tiebreaker Zumba dance-off.
