Pete & Pete Zine Release Party—Tonight!

Posted by Alison Hallett on Fri, Jul 27, 2012 at 9:44 AM

There is something almost brutally nostalgic about this theme song:

Tonight at Bridge City, a release party for the new zine Waiting for October, a tribute to the great mid-'90s Nickelodeon show The Adventures of Pete & Pete. It's a fun little zine, full of jokes and sentimental autobio comics and lots of illustrations of Artie, the Strongest Man in the World. (There's also a sweet Petunia centerfold.) We didn't have cable when I was a kid, so I watched Pete & Pete in the summers at my grandma's house—I can't think of any other TV show that more perfectly evokes the sunniest parts of my childhood, and I'm clearly not alone in that. The zine's selling for a mere $6; contributors Kory Bing, Lindsey Clark-Ryan, Hiller Goodspeed, Indigo Kelleigh, and Jen Van Meter will be on hand signing autographs, plus, "weather willing, some post-party flashlight tag."

That's tonight at Bridge City Comics, 3725 N Mississippi, 6-9 pm
