The push for same-sex marriage in Washington is a nail-biter that's down to the wire. Despite impassioned support from Governor Gregoire and now President Obama, the push to support Referendum 74 is getting tighter and tighter.

Previous polls found the referendum leading with 53 percent of the vote, but the most recent poll, out this week, shows only 49 percent support for same-sex marriage, with 44 percent of voters against the referendum and a narrow sliver undecided.

Oregon's LGBT leaders decided not to push for gay marriage on the ballot in the Beaver State precisely because they were worried about losing a squeaker election like this. But if you support equal rights for all Americans—regardless of who they sleep with—now would be the time to get your rear in gear and volunteer.
