I'm not the most diligent Goodreader—according to my account, I've been reading Dune for 341 days—but I'm always interested in the site's annual Readers' Choice awards: They're more populist than critic-selected best-ofs but more discriminating than bestseller lists, and they seem to correspond fairly well with the books people I know are actually reading.

Over a million votes were cast, and winners were announced yesterday . JK Rowling's The Casual Vacancy topped the fiction list; genre winners included Stephen King, Terry Pratchett, EL James (yup), John Green, and Gillian Flynn. Portland author Cheryl Strayed got a best memoir nod for Wild—which also is on its way to becoming a film, with a script written by Nick Hornby.
