I just rewatched the first episode of the British The Office over the weekend—I have seen that show 4,000 times, and I will watch it 4,000 more times—and was, as ever, delighted by Ricky Gervais' outstanding turn in it, which he will never crawl out of the shadow of, because David Brent is just so massively, ridiculously great. And horrible. Whatever. The only thing that might be better is when Gervais is on Louie. "I can't believe you're a doctor."

Anyway! He's going to be in the Muppets sequel! This is great news!

Gervais, however, would play the lead—as much as one can be a lead opposite Kermit, Fozzie and Miss Piggy—with his stature being compared to the role played by Jason Segel in the 2011 movie. But the nature of Gervais' character is unknown because the script is being kept secret. Also unclear is whether the part calls for singing, a requirement for the first movie (but here's hoping).

Gervais shot a cameo for the first movie, but the scene didn't make the final cut. (Via.)

So today's okay after all.
