And now here's the opening track from The Woolen Men, a splendid jangler called "Mayonnaise." With Roger McGuinn-esque 12-string—actually, it sounds more like Big Star than the Byrds—and backing "oohs," it's a fresh, tight, poppy rock song, evidence of both the Woolen Men's songwriting skill and their aptitude for self-recording themselves.
It's a great taster for the album, and while your appetite is whetted, check out the WM's recent tour cassette, which you can listen to over on Bandcamp. (Another tour cassette from the prolific band will likely come out around the same time as the full-length.) The Woolen Men play Friday, January 11 at the Know, opening for the Gutters' 7-inch release show.
