Due to the hassles of film festival programming, the NW Film Center's confirmed announcement of its Portland International Film Festival opening night film has arrived later than usual, a little out of breath and disheveled, but here nonetheless. The party that kicks off the festival will take place on February 7th (the festival itself runs through Feb 23) at the Portland Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30, featuring Blancanieves, a Spanish film that is described as "a 1920s, silent-set reworking of the Brothers Grimm fairytale “Snow White,” offset by punchy Flamenco rhythms and full of imagination." It looks gorgeous:
