COMEDY—Portland's CHAD Chats were in the business of mocking TED Talks before mocking TED Talks was the thing to do. Fake experts give multimedia presentations on topics wildly outside their purview: In this case, SPACE! On deck to edify our citizenry are some of Portland's smartest people: Back Fence PDX founder B. Frayn Masters, Andrew Dickson, and the Mercury's Wm. Steven Humphrey. AH
The Jack London Bar, 529 SW 4th, 8:30 pm, $7-10

MUSIC—Did you miss the secret, invite-only Built to Spill show at Bunk Bar this past October? Here's your consolation prize—two cozy shows at the Doug Fir with the Idaho band's new lineup. w/Finn Riggins; Doug Fir, 830 E Burnside, Thurs & Fri 9 pm, $25
