Sold Out: A Novel Romance

Posted by Marjorie Skinner on Sat, Feb 16, 2013 at 10:29 AM

Again, this week's print edition was so full of valentines that it pushed much of our usual content into an online-only existence. Fine! That included the bulk of my Sold Out interview with English Dept. founder and eponymous designer Elizabeth Dye. Dye not only played a huge role in updating the wedding industry to better serve the modern woman, she's one of the smartest voices in the Portland apparel industry. The annual English Dept. runway event, "A Novel Romance," is tomorrow afternoon at the Cleaners, giving me an excuse to get an update on her groundbreaking shop, where's she's at as a designer, and more. Check it out, and check out the show tomorrow, too—even if you're not planning a wedding it's one of the most tasteful, sumptuous presentations of the year.
