Pip's Original, now open on NE Fremont at 47th (between Stanich's and Smallwares), serves housemade chai, Extracto coffee, drinking chocolate, and, most distinctively, hot, fresh little Pike Place-style donuts. Sweet and airy, they're offered in both Cinnamon Sugar and Raw Honey & Sea Salt flavors. We went through our half-dozen somewhere between signing the receipt and crossing the street to the car, so go big when ordering. If you're lucky, you'll be there while the dough is dropping out of the hopper into their cute little counter-top frying machine, which will irreversibly plant the idea of buying one in your head. Guys who make women uncomfortable please note: there is an unsecured Washburn guitar in the seating area—at least for now—so you can show everybody who's the boss when it comes to fingerpicking the intro to King Crimson's "Dinosaur."
