Since 2010, the VIDA count has issued an annual report on the publication rates of men and women in "respected literary outlets." This year, Portland's own Tin House Magazine was one of the few magazines surveyed with an equal distribution of bylines.

VIDA interviewed Tin House's Rob Spillman about how and why Tin House has such a better representation of female writers than most of their peers. He states the obvious, and it needs stating: In order to run more articles by women, editors have to seek out more articles by women. "f you don’t actively seek change," he says, "then stasis sets in and the status quo remains." Read it here.

The rest of the list is here, if you want to bum yourself out.
