This is a shame. Wolitzer was supposed to read from her new book The Interestings at Powell's tonight, but a last-minute cancellation just came down the wire.
The Interestings is about a bunch of friends who meet at an artsy summer camp as teens. Some of 'em grow up to be super fancy, successful artists and some of 'em turn into regular people with regular occupations, and so the book is about close friends navigating these complex relationships involving money and envy and wildly different career paths. It's really good. Kinda Franzen-y, but more fun. (At least more fun than Freedom was.)
