Tonight at 7:30, the Kung Fu Theater series at the Hollywood Theatre (4122 NE Sandy) continues with 1972's Queen Boxer on 35mm! I'll leave it to Kung Fu Theater curator Dan Halsted to synopsize:
A mysterious female kickboxer (Judy Lee) is on a road to revenge for the death of her brother at the hands of a powerful crime lord. She teams up with another lone kung fu fighter with a vendetta against the evil boss, and they start fighting their way through an army of gangsters to reach the top of the Shanghai crime world. Whether fighting with her fists, a pair of knives, or a hatchet, the Queen Boxer proves herself to be one of the baddest female protagonists in cinema history. The original tagline says it all: "Watch out for Judy Lee, she will rip your eyes out!"
Tickets are usually $8, but I've got a pair to give away to one of the Blogtown readers who emails me today before 1 pm with the subject line "JESUS CHRIST, SHE'S JUST HOLDING EYES IN HER HAND LIKE IT'S NO BIG DEAL." I'll email the winner at around 1 to let them know they've won. Annnd... that's it. Have at!
