It's Happening Tonight!

Posted by Alison Hallett on Tue, Aug 13, 2013 at 4:15 PM

BOOKS—If you love juicy, heart-clutching thrillers, you really need to check out local author Chelsea Cain's Archie Sheridan/Gretchen Lowell series, in which a gorgeous serial killer plays a disturbing game of cat and mouse with a tortured (physically and mentally) Portland detective. Tonight Chelsea will read from her latest entry, Let Me Go, wherein Archie and Gretchen's relationship reaches new, freaky, and dangerous heights. WSH
Powell's City of Books, 1005 W Burnside, 7:30 pm, FREE

MUSIC—Get your summer kicks while you can. Best Coast can help, with beachy, sun-filled California rock that's the aural equivalent of flippin' on a pair of Wayfarers and driving with the top down. Rock out with the band tonight, and don't blame us if you've got sand between your toes the next morning. NL
w/Lovely Bad Things, Charts; Hawthorne Theatre, 1507 SE César E. Chávez, 8 pm, $20-23, all ages
