Should America's Olympic Athletes Wave Gay Pride Flags in Russia?

YES, say Frank Bruni and Sen. Charles Schumer. It's a perfect symbolic protest that will reach millions of viewers around the world while mocking and embarrassing Russia's leaders.

But hang on...

The creator of the gay pride flag, Gilbert Baker, says NO. The flag, according to Baker, should not be used to help the Olympics go on in a country that treats gay citizens the way Russia does:

Olympic flag waving gave a stamp of approval to Nazi atrocities in 1936. Please don’t use the Rainbow Flag to cover up Russian atrocities in 2014. The Rainbow Flag is the international symbol of LGBT freedom — it is not an endorsement of repression.
