EAR CANDY—Here to stuff your sack full of sweetness, it's the first-ever Ear Candy! Your pals at the Mercury and the good folks at Mississippi Studios have teamed up to bring you a series of free shows from terrific local bands, and tonight's inaugural Ear Candy kicks off with a Halloween theme and two aptly named bands: Spookies and Big Haunt! NL
Mississippi Studios, 3939 N Mississippi, 9 pm, FREE

MUSIC—There are worse people to spend Halloween with than Fred and Toody Cole, the Portland legends who are the backbone of Pierced Arrows. Pretty much everyone, actually. This year, cut your sugar and alcohol intake with ecstatic, unadulterated ROCK at this 19th anniversary show for the Ash Street Saloon. DVH
w/Poison Idea, Don't; Ash Street Saloon, 225 SW Ash, 9 pm, $10

HORROR FILMS—It's pretty easy to blow a fat stack of cash on Halloween festivities—what with costumes, bar tabs, and haunted-house admissions. So cheapskate it up at the Kennedy School tonight with a FREE triple feature of dead-awesome horror flicks: Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein, Sam Raimi's Evil Dead 2, and Peter Jackson's Dead Alive! CF
Kennedy School, 5736 NE 33rd, Young Frankenstein at 5:30 pm (all ages), Evil Dead 2 at 7:30 pm (21+), Dead Alive at 9:35 pm (21+), FREE
