Another Reason Your Monday Commute Will Be The Worst

Posted by Dirk VanderHart on Fri, Feb 14, 2014 at 12:29 PM

We're not big on traffic updates here on Blogtown, but the Steel Bridge will be closed at night for the next two weekends, which will cause headaches—particularly, TriMet notes, to Monday morning commuters who ride a bus or train across the river.

TriMet's going to have shuttles in place for Max riders, but it'll be slow-going. Here's a rundown from the transit agency. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Five bus lines detoured

Buses on lines 4, 8, 35, 44 will detour to the Burnside Bridge and bus line 77 will detour to the Broadway Bridge during the following times:

•Saturday, Feb. 15 – Sunday, Feb. 16: 11:00 p.m. through 8:30 a.m.
•Sunday, Feb. 16 – Monday, Feb. 17: 11:00 p.m. through 8:30 a.m.
•Saturday, Feb. 22 – Sunday, Feb. 23: 11:00 p.m. through 8:30 a.m.
•Sunday, Feb. 23 – Monday, Feb. 24: 11:00 p.m. through 8:30 a.m.

MAX service disrupted

MAX trains will be allowed to run across the bridge a little longer than other vehicles and will start back across the bridge slightly earlier. Here are the times MAX service will be disrupted:

•Sunday, Feb. 16: 12:00 a.m. through 8:00 a.m.
•Monday, Feb. 17: 12:00 a.m. through 8:00 a.m.
•Sunday, Feb. 23: 12:00 a.m. through 8:00 a.m.
•Monday, Feb. 24: 12:00 a.m. through 8:00 a.m.

Blue/Red line shuttles

Shuttle buses will transport riders from the Rose Quarter Transit Center to the Old Town/Chinatown Station as close to MAX scheduled times as possible.

MAX Green/Yellow line shuttles

Shuttle buses will take riders from the Interstate/Rose Quarter Station to Union Station as close to MAX scheduled times as possible. We will have three trains circling the Transit Mall on 5th and 6th avenues.

Update, 1:38 pm:We've been reminded that the Sellwood Bridge will be closed for construction from Saturday to Thursday. And one lane of the Morrison will be closed, as well, while workers try to determine just what the hell happened there. Happy travels!
