Lena Dunham to Write for Archie Comics. WHAT? YES!!

Posted by Wm.™ Steven Humphrey on Mon, Mar 3, 2014 at 1:59 PM

According to Comics Alliance, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (who as written for Marvel comics as well as TV shows such as Glee and Big Love) has been named as Archie Comics' "first-ever chief creative officer." And one of his first orders of business? To hire Girls' Lena Dunham to write a four-issue miniseries for Archie, debuting in 2015. WHAT? YES!

As for Dunham’s new series, no details about the story have yet been released, but she did offer this statement:

"I was an avid Archie collector as a child — conventions, first editions that l kept in plastic sleeves, the whole shebang. It has so much cultural significance but also so much personal significance, and to get to play with these beloved characters is a wild creative opportunity."

Aguirre-Sacasa added, “Lena’s take on the Archie gang is funny and real and contemporary. It’s a stunning fit, and I know fans will be excited to read it. I am!”

Despite the fact that you irrationally hate Lena Dunham, deep in my heart I know you are wrong, and I irrationally love Archie. Therefore, I AM SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS—primarily because I know she'll make sure that Veronica is nude three-quarters of the time. WHOOP! WHOOP!
