Two eagerly anticipated movies are opening tomorrow, and we've got reviews of both: the fan-funded Veronica Mars opens at the Living Room Theaters, and Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel opens at Cinema 21.

While it's become the norm for most mainstream movies to have Thursday night openings, these two smaller titles are also breaking out a bit early—all the better to cater to frantically fanfictioning Marshmallows and frantically mustache-waxing Zissouheads. While Veronica Mars' Kickstarter backers will be getting their digital copies of the film tomorrow, I have little doubt most of them will be seeing it in the theater as well; meanwhile, only a massive and systemic failure of their novelty vintage bicycle infrastructure could keep Anderson fans away from a new Anderson film.

Veronica Mars' first Portland show is tonight at midnight at the Living Room Theaters, while Grand Budapest plays at 9 and midnight at Cinema 21. Eric D. Snider's review of Veronica Mars is here, and my take on Grand Budapest is here.

If you're only seeing one movie in a theater this weekend, I humbly suggest that trying to appreciate the intricacies of The Grand Budapest Hotel on a TV or a laptop screen is roughly the moral equivalent of committing a small genocide.
