I'd given up wondering a looooong time ago whether or not Tony Soprano died at the end of the mysterious series finale of The Sopranos (2007)—but apparently some reporters are still wondering, and incessantly nagging creator David Chase about it. From Vox's waaaay too long article :

I had been talking with Chase for a few years when I finally asked him whether Tony was dead. We were in a tiny coffee shop, when, in the middle of a low-key chat about a writing problem I was having, I popped the question. Chase startled me by turning toward me and saying with sudden, explosive anger, "Why are we talking about this?" I answered, "I'm just curious."

And then, for whatever reason, he told me.

...

He shook his head “no.” And he said simply, “No he isn’t.” That was all.

Chase doesn't elaborate any further on the famous "black out" ending (watch it again below), other than to say it's a shout-out to Edgar Allen Poe's poem, "Dream Within a Dream." So there's really no point in reading this entire loooong article, and I'm actually pretty annoyed that it was even written. ANYWAY! That's one more TV mystery we can finally put to bed—now on to obsessing about why Kelly and Jessie mysteriously disappeared from the last season of Saved by the Bell!
