The Hotel deLuxe runs a series of tastings, usually on a Wednesday, in their rather sumptuous lobby. Called Creative Close Up it’s a showcase of local and regional drink products—beer, cider, wine, spirits, mixers—selected by the bar supervisor at the Driftwood Room, Kaitlin Dover. This Wednesday they are sampling kombucha from Salt, Fire and Time as well as spirits from Stone Barn Brandy Works, who specialize in fruit brandies, brandy-based liqueurs and whiskey.

Also, on Thursday, there’s a bonus tasting from Oakshire. The Eugene-based brewery will be pouring samples of their fine beers, which range from Marzens through to IPAs, Stouts and Belgian ales. Then next week (Christmas Eve, in fact) Noel Family Vineyards will be offering up their Pinot Noir—it’s a small winery, just 100 cases a year, that uses grapes from their estate in the Chehalem Mountains. Given the general excellence of the Driftwood Room drinks program anything they showcase is going to be worth a try. Hotel deluxe, 729 SW 15th, Wednesday, Thursday & December 24, 5 pm–7 pm
