It may have taken a while, but Netflix has finally announced it will not be streaming the Cosby 77 stand-up special—which was designed to celebrate Bill Cosby's 77th birthday—following an avalanche of terrible press and accusations against the comedian. According to The Wrap, Netflix chief Ted Sarandos succinctly said the following when asked if the streaming service planned on going through with the special:

“I don’t think it’s appropriate to release that."

Short and to the point. Though Sarandos was quick to note that their DVD by mail service would continue to list The Cosby Show, since that is a product of NBC and Carsey/Werner—as opposed to an actual Netflix production.

Meanwhile, Cosby's drug and rape accusations continue to gather steam, with New York magazine's profile of his 35 accusers, and the comedian's remarks that were revealed earlier this month in which he admits—but does not apologize for—giving Quaaludes to women.
