Operation Unicorn: That's what local comedians banding around Veronica Heath are calling their benefit show for the stand-up, who was recently hospitalized for complications related to rheumatoid arthritis (which fucking sucks, get better, Veronica!). The show comes on the heels of a this month's Gofundme campaign (whose donor base was particularly comedian-heavy), and is slated for Wednesday, August 19, at the Funhouse Lounge.

"One of Portland's most beloved and hilarious comedians, Veronica Heath, has gone through hell. She has been fighting rheumatoid arthritis (RA) for 2 years and the medication she took for it shattered her immune system," reads the description on Operation Unicorn's Facebook page. "A bug that you or I would not have even noticed left her in the hospital, fighting for her life, for weeks. It's going to take a long time for her to recover financially and physically. She needs our help, and the Pacific NW's best and brightest comedians are going to bat it out of the park for her."

The benefit also boasts one of the more crowded comedy bills I've seen in recent memory, with Steven Wilber, Adam Pasi, Caitlin Weierhauser, Nariko Ott, Hutch Harris, Amy Miller, Joann Schinderle, Lonnie Bruhn, Christian Ricketts, Alex Rios, David Zoe Leon, Brendan Kelley, Tyler Schnupp, and Albert Kirchner all lined up to tell jokes. And apparently a carnival? IDK. Whitney Streed, Jason Traeger, and Andie Main will host. Oh, and its mascot is a unicorn llama, which is almost too cute, even for me, Peanut Butter the Shy Corgi Who Can't Walk Down Stairs' biggest fan.
