Here's a horrible idea: An app that allows users to rate other humans. A Yelp for people, if you will.

It's called peeple, and it's set to launch in November, according to co-founder and chief executive Julia Cordray.

Cordray says the app "allows users to provide a rating and commentary on the people they come in contact with everyday."

“We feel this is the ultimate social experiment,” she says. “Let’s look at everyone in the three ways you could possibly know someone—personally, professionally and romantically—and let the world rate them, while allowing yourself to be rated.”

As if the world needs yet another website where unqualified people can make unfounded judgement calls on a person's looks, character, personality, or some other trait that is just ripe for trolling.

The app requires users to log in via Facebook and submit a phone number, theoretically in an attempt to fend off malicious reviews. It also keeps negative comments hidden for 48 hours so the rater and the rated have time to hash out the review. Because that sounds like fun.

Anyone can comment and there's no way to opt out if someone else puts your profile online.
