Hopefully this isn't a new thing.

Portland police are reporting a gunman in a "newer black SUV with tinted windows" pulled up alongside a semi truck on southbound I-205 near Division early this morning, and shot one of its tires out.

That's it, really. Cops have no idea who it was, the driver has no idea why it happened, and some jerk's out there, acting smug because they shot a tire out like in the movies.

Here's the full release:

On Tuesday January 26, 2016, at 2;13 a.m., East Precinct officers responded to I-205 southbound at Division Street on the report that someone shot at a tractor-trailer being driven on the freeway, flattening one of the tires.

Officers contacted the truck driver who told police that he was driving southbound on I-205 in the right lane when someone in a newer black SUV with tinted windows pulled up along side him and someone inside the vehicle fired multiple rounds at the driver's side rear tire before speeding out of the area.

Officers located evidence of gunfire consistent with the truck driver's statement. The driver did not see the shooter and did not have any better description of the vehicle.

No similar incidents have been reported to police and there is no evidence to suggest this was a road rage incident.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Assault detectives at 503-823-0400.
