For those who like their animation on the darker side, you might want to check out HBO's Animals (debuting tonight, Feb 5, at 11:30 pm). Created by Mike Luciano and Phil Matarese (and helped along by the Duplass brothers), Animals features the daily problems of animals in NYC—which turns out to be very similar problems to those experienced by people in NYC... or any urban environment. Example! In tonight's opening episode, two rats discuss their attempts to get lucky at a party, meanwhile two police horses (voiced by Paul Scheer and Matt Walsh) express their thinly veiled jealousy of a former horse pal who's breaking into the racing circuit. This is followed by two bedbugs (Mark Duplass and Rob Corrdry) living in the mayor's crotch, where one exclaims, "Well, holy shit—this is incredible,” to which the other bedbug replies, "This is so nice." FUNNY STUFF! Future guest voices will include hilarious people Nick Kroll, Lauren Lapkus, Ellie Kemper, Wanda Sykes, Marc Maron, A$ap Rocky, and more! Check out the trailer below, and tonight's premiere on HBO at 11:30 pm.
