That one law enforcement officer, Humphreys, stated he "fell" or "tripped into" the suspect as he was pursuing him. I call B.S. He tackled the deceased, which was probably what caused the death. The officer lied about how he came to be on top of the deceased because he was concerned the "intentional act" of tackling the deceased would be interpreted as proof of a guilty mental state. I.e., "YOU DID IT". Lying sack of shit. Few things anger me more than people who violate the very rules they are vested with the authority and responsibility to enforce. The PPD, and the DA are a disgrace. The cops have about the most difficult job in the world. I would forgive them in an instance if they were honest and said "hey, we misinterpreted the situation" or even "you know what, in that situation we pretty much felt like we had to use the amount of force we did, but we did not know he was crazy and we feel bad, it was a total accident..." But no. Instead they lie and act all indignant that anybody would question the rightousness of their actions.

Jesus how I would love to see some of those incompetent d-bag PPD officers prosecuted when the pull shit like this.

I still cannot believe the first article I ever read when i first moved to PDX was about the Police Murder of Chasse! I moved here to escape violence and Police brutality in Pittsburgh Pa but I guess I was wrong! But at least the air's cleaner here unless of course city hall wants to mess that up too and tell us it's fair Portland seriously needs to get it's shit together as far as the PDX PD is involved it's unacceptable!

If the police officers could see what I see, they would realize they are just pawns in the rich folks lives. Doing the dirty work for our powerful, power hungry and monied. This is true all across the country. Let's take back our institutions and community, police officers included. We them on our side.

That sounds like bullshit to me, D. The police 'risk' their lives for a dead ideal, one that was non-existent at best. The police's only job is to protect the rich and the borgeious's property, and therefore in this context, the police HAD to kill Chasse to protect Petit-Borgieouse notions of society.

I'm standing behind them. The investigation was huge and if there was malice and law breaking those who would pay -- would pay. The sad fact is procedures were followed and tragically a man ended up dying. It's not always a happy ending.
And there's no disrespect to the man who died or to honoring his memory.
But how much does complaining and belittling officers who risk their lives all day really help reform the reality on the streets?

Yeah. Heaven forbid you expect people to remember a life stolen under color of authority. Never mind the fact a 145 lb male was beaten, kicked and stomped and then left to bleed to death over a period of time. Never mind the fact he had done NOTHING wrong. Never mind the fact that not ONE of those responsible have been held accountable. Never mind the fact that those responsible made false statements to tr to caver themselves. I hope and pray, D, That it never happens to you and yours. Too bad you don't use your REAL name and stand behind your statements
