Merkley won the debate - hands down. Compared to the fine tradition of accomplishment and leadership found among Oregon Senators such as Wayne Morse, Mark Hatfield and Ron Wyden, Gordon Smith has fallen below the mark. The negativism he has engaged in during this campaign has proven how desperate and low Smith sank to buy voters. Imagine how useful all the Gordon Smith ad money would be otherwise useful at this time in a desperate economy. It's time for change and Jeff Merkley has what it takes. I and others will be electing Jeff Merkley in November.
