Just saw your blog.  Wanted to make sure you knew that the build up of methane gas can and has caused explosions and fires at former dumps.  A quick Google search shows that methane gas, if not released and burned off (like they are planning to do) can and has caused explosions and fires in former dumps.<br>

The city is taking precautions to avoid a problem, but the possibility of trouble (and the unequal treatment) is definitely there.  Again, it’s great to have a new park in our neighborhood.  Being built on a former dump and the remediation it requires to make it useful definitely does highlight differences in the type of green spaces east Portland residents receive, though.<br>
